Hugo Read is a wine writer and educator. He maintains the popular blog Hugo's Reserve at www.hugoread.com and runs several wine education courses. He’s also the owner of Viavino, an importing business specialising in Italian wines
He grew up in a wine family and his whole life has been steeped in wine. In 2003 he spend six months touring Italy in his Fiat Punto (without air-con), visiting over 100 producers as well as learning the language. Subsequently he has taken the WSET diploma, graduating with merit and being shortlisted for a scholarship.
He is a regular visitor and private buyer in France and Italy. His main specialities are Burgundy, Alsace, Germany and Italy. |
