Having acquired initial trade experience working in the independent retail sector, Ivan started his career with Harvey Nichols in 2005 where he managed the Manchester store’s wine range and restaurant offer. Promoted to a buying role 3 years later, Ivan is now based at the company’s head office where he sources products for a number of wine and spirit categories.
As well as buying for the Harvey Nichol’s operation, Ivan is also involved in writing, wine education , training, public events, judging and consultancy.
Current areas of wine responsibility for Harvey Nichols include Germany, Austria, Central & Eastern Europe, England, Portugal, Spain, Italy, New Zealand, South America & South Africa. Similarly, his principle spirit categories includes Gin, Vodka, Rum, Tequila and Liqueurs.
Amongst his favourite things to drink, Ivan lists Riesling, Nebbiolo, Gruner Veltliner, Chenin Blanc, “bubbles”, botrytis stickies, Sake, Sherry along with a myriad of classic and contmpary cocktails. He has now been judging at the IWSC for 5 years. |
