As a 13 year-old adolescent Jochen helped himself to his father’s wine cellar to entertain friends. During his post-graduate training he maintained his own wine cellar of around 200 bottles - mainly German Rieslings. While working at UN Headquarters in New York, his collection became more international.
His activities as a life-long wine lover and occasional wine consultant led, after retirement, to 15 years of professional wine writing as his second career and 20 years as a taster at IWSC and other competitions world-wide.
