Soon after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Jack Whitaker joined the finance department of brewers Charrington & Co, the start of an enjoyable career in financial management in the drinks industry. His interest in wine really developed during his time as Finance Director of off-licence retailers, Augustus Barnett.
He became an MW in 1993 and was Honorary Treasurer and Company Secretary of the Institute of Masters of Wine for many years. He has now retired from full time employment. He takes every opportunity to increase his knowledge of wine and enjoys acting as a judge for the International Wine and Spirit Competition. |
