Certified Advanced Sommelier Jesse Rodriguez oversees The Grand Del Mar’s exciting wine collections and programs for its five dining venues, the gourmet shop and catering functions. Rodriguez was named one of “2010 Los Angeles-San Diego Rising Stars” by StarChefs.com. As the opening head sommelier at Addison, he earned coveted national media recognition for the restaurant’s outstanding wine list and service from Food & Wine, Wine Spectator, Santé, Forbes.com and Esquire.
In addition, the resort’s signature restaurant, Addison, received the Wine Spectator Grand Award in 2011, 2010 and 2009, and Wine Enthusiast’s Ultimate Award of Distinction in 2010; and was named “Wine Restaurant of the Year” by Santé magazine in 2010. Amaya restaurant and the resort’s Wine Cellar room also received Wine Spectator recognition awards in 2011 and 2010.
During his tenure at the resort, Rodriguez has helped assemble its 37,500-bottle wine inventory and has created a collection of extraordinary proprietary private bottlings. He is credentialed as a Certified Wine Educator by the Society of Wine Educators, joining the ranks of 250 CWE’s worldwide.
