Jo Burzynska is one of New Zealand’s leading wine communicators, where she is a wine journalist, author and judge. She writes one of the most widely-read weekly wine columns as wine editor of the New Zealand Herald’s Viva magazine, and is also editor of the country’s main wine magazine, WineNZ. Burzynska is an active wine judge, as chair of the Canterbury Wine Awards and senior judge at numerous competitions worldwide.
Originally from the UK, where she spent time at Harpers Wine & Spirit as associate editor of supplements and as editor of Drinks Buyer Europe, she relocated to New Zealand in 2004. Here, on top of writing and judging, she has also been involved in wine education, as a certified WSET educator and lecturer. Burzynska also wrote the book ‘Wine Class: All You Need to Know About Wine in New Zealand’, which was published by Random House.
