Following the successful round of the 2011 judging of South African Wine entries (in Paarl), the Competition donates wine for the M’Dala Trust Fundraising Golf Day.

The M’dala Trust is an organization that provides regular and meaningful support to destitute or needy Zimbabwean pensioners resident in the Western Cape.

Leon Jacobs, Chairman of the M’Dala Trust, “I write on behalf of the Trustees to thank the IWSC most sincerely for the donation and particularly for their concern and interest in the work we do for the Rhodesian and Zimbabwean pensioners who now reside in the Western Cape.”

Traditionally in the UK, the IWSC auctions off excess wines and spirits at the end of the tasting season, with proceeds going to charity.

The M’Dala Trust fundraising golf day will be held on Friday 4 November 2011, with 144 players expected to take part in the event.

About the M’dala Trust

Many Zimbabwean old age pensioners have been left in dire financial straits after a lifetime of hard work, as their pensions have been terminated due to the economic situation in Zimbabwe.

The M’dala Trust is a legally registered organization that provides regular and meaningful support to destitute or needy Zimbabwean pensioners resident in the Western Cape.

The Trust is managed by a Board of seven Trustees who are all ex-Zimbabwean and who have a wealth of managerial experience and ability. The Trust also has seven Patrons who are prominent and highly respected persons.

Trust business is focused essentially on fund raising so that the ever present needs of the pensioners can be addressed and catered for. Pensioner support incorporates the provision of gift cards to enable pensioners to survive nutritiously on a monthly basis, arrangement and funding for cataract operations and the provision of hearing aids where necessary, and an increasing range of additional assistance, including some limited medical aspects, as they are determined.
