We are delighted to announce that in 2024, for the first time in the IWSC history, we will hold a Global Wine Judging event in China, in partnership with the Xinjiang Tianshan Mountains North region.

Since 2022, in addition to Wine Judging in London, the IWSC has been taking its international experts around the globe, judging the wines in their places of origin. We are excited that in 2024 we will be bringing our Awards to China – one of the fastest-growing wine regions in the world.

Our Global Wine Judging in China will take place in Changji, Xinjiang on 24 – 29 August 2024. The results will be announced on 2 September.

The IWSC will be bringing to China a strong team of international judges, including the industry’s key decision makers – Head Buyers, Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers.

Joining the panel will be the IWSC judge Master of Wine Beth Kelly. Beth is a Buyer at Majestic Wine, UK’s biggest wine retailer. Master of Wine, Independent Consultant and Educator Antony Moss will also be traveling to China.

Master Sommelier and owner of London’s 2 Michelin star restaurant Trivet  Isa Bal will bring the on-trade perspective to the judging. Another renowned on-trade professional, Igor Sotric, will also join the judging team. Igor is the Head Sommelier and Wine Buyer at China Tang at The Dorchester – UK’s iconic luxury hotel restaurant.

Last but not least, the IWSC judge Will Hill will also join the panel. Will is the Wine Buying Director at Novel Wines – UK-based retailer specialising in undiscovered wines and emerging regions. More international judges will be announced soon.

Our Global Judging events offer producers a unique opportunity to put their wines on the international stage by showcasing them in front of the world-renowned experts – our judges, while taking advantage of the convenient local delivery. In addition to tasting the entries, our judges will visit the Changji wine producers immersing themselves in the local wine culture.

Producers entering the IWSC Global Judging in China will benefit from:

  • Discounted entry fee of £139 for producers from Changji & Tianshan Mountain (for Chinese producers outside Changji & Tianshan Mountain standard IWSC entry fees apply).
  • Convenient local delivery.
  • Exposure of award-winning wines to the IWSC’s global audience.
  • Dedicated campaign promoting the winners across the IWSC’s trade platform, our consumer magazine Club Oenologique, our podcast The Drinking Hour and our partner media.
  • Access to a panel of internationally renowned wine judges and an opportunity to build industry connections.

Chinese producers can enter the Judging on our website (in English) or via the IWSC's representative office using a Chinese entry form. Entry deadline - 22 July 2024.
