Billy Abbott is a drinks writer, educator and all-round geek, with a particular interest in whisky, Asian spirits and beer. He left the world of IT in 2011 and is now ambassador and training manager for The Whisky Exchange, a WSET and armagnac educator, a judge for spirits and beer competitions, and a host for drinks tastings around the world. He was awarded Icons of Whisky Communicator Rest of World in 2021, his book, "The Philosophy of Whisky", was shortlisted for the Fortnum & Mason Debut Book award in 2022, and he was named IWSC Spirits Communicator of the Year 2026.
