We are delighted to share that in 2024, for the third consecutive year, the IWSC will hold its Global Judging in South Africa. This time, following two hugely successful South African wine judgings, we will be focusing not only on the country’s wines, but also on its spirits.

The IWSC Wine & Spirits Judging in South Africa will take place on 23-26 June in Stellenbosch with the results announcement on 1 July.

We are excited to be bringing to South Africa two strong panels of international judges, globally renowned for their expertise.

Our Wine panel will be overseen by the IWSC Judging Committee member John Hoskins MW. With decades of experience buying wine for his UK-based restaurant, hotel and wine shop, as well as being the Chairman of the Master of Wine examination, John has an unparalleled knowledge of the global wine market and consumer trends. John will be joined by a team of on-trade and off-trade experts - Buyers, Sommeliers and Communicators.

Our Spirits panel will be led by our veteran judge Ivan Dixon. Ivan has been judging with the IWSC for almost 20 years. Formerly a Buyer and Head of Spirits at some of the UK’s leading importers, Ivan now runs his own consultancy working with a range of industry projects. Joining Ivan at the tasting table will be a team of spirits experts, including South Africa-based Leah van Deventer. Leah is a world-renowned cocktails and spirits writer, educator and industry consultant, and she has recently taken on the role of the IWSC Spirits Ambassador in South Africa.

Producers entering the IWSC Wine & Spirits Judging in South Africa will benefit from:

  • Award-winning wines and spirits put in front of the IWSC’s global audience
