The WOSA Wine Workshops are a new marketing concept for the South African wine industry. These international master classes presented in key export markets are taking place across the globe from May to July, with the UK leg of the seminar tour taking place at Vinopolis on Wednesday 29th June 2011.

The aim of the free workshops is to showcase the very best wines from South Africa to key influencers such as the trade, media and sommeliers, as well as advanced students, with sessions conducted by highly respected winemakers. A wide range of topics will be covered on the day, highlighting the direction the South African wine industry is taking stylistically, issues around making environmental drivers work for business and the new generation of winemaking stars.

The seminars in the UK include:

Tomorrow’s Stars

A new generation of South African winemakers is emerging. Exciting winemakers such as Donoval Rall, Howard Booysen, Johann Fourie and Peter-Allan Finlayson will be speaking about pushing boundaries and finding new ways to build on the achievements of their mentors.

Is green business good business?

In this seminar we are showcasing some South African producers' green initiatives to protect and improve the environment, as well as improve the lives of workers and transform the industry. Wineries will debate the question as to whether any of these initiatives are rewarded in the market place.

Can SA do reds?

Winemakers will present some of South Africa’s iconic and ultra premium red wines. These highly recognised reds will include single varietal and blended wines, as well as some older vintages.

New naturals

An opportunity to experience “site specific” wines that reflect the different terroir of South Africa. Specifically, we will pay attention to wines that express natural growing methods and winemaking techniques, including biodynamic, sulphite-free and organic wines. Speakers include Adi Badenhorst, Johan Delport and Werner Engelbrecht.
