We are pleased to award our 2023 Red Wine Producer Trophy to Domaine Bousquet, a benchmark Argentinian winery leading the way for organic winemaking in South America.

Located in the Tupungato region of Mendoza, Domaine Bousquet has adopted sustainable principles since its inception in 1997. Today it is Argentina’s leading organic and regenerative winery accounting for 65% of the country’s organic exports. The winery is run by Anne Bousquet, daughter of the founder, and her husband, Labid Ameri.

Our judges were impressed with Domaine’s 360˚  approach to sustainability, noting that the team at Bousquet not only champion biodiversity and work to reduce their environmental impact but also support the local community.

Indeed, Domaine Bousquet’s approach involves many steps undertaken in the vineyards, at the winery, and beyond. Their 100% organically certified vineyards are now in the process of conversion to biodynamic practices, and a substantial effort is put into preserving biodiversity of the land.  Furthermore, Domaine Bousquet have been working to minimise waist generation, as well as running a number of water conservation initiatives and introducing low-weight bottles.

What struck our judges is that Domaine Bousquet advocates sustainability far beyond its 270-hectare estate.  Over the last 25 years, they have helped growers in the region convert more than 1,000 hectares to organic farming. They also support local education in the Tupungato region of Mendoza and train the local workforce, investing in their community.

Recent years marked several significant achievements for Domaine Bousquet. They became the fourth winery – the first outside The U.S. – to earn Regenerative Organic Certified status. At the end of 2022, Domaine Bousquet achieved B Corp status.  And most recently, in April 2023, two of Bousquet’s ranges (Gaia and Ameri) became Demeter certified.

But it is not just the sustainability initiatives that brought this coveted trophy to Domaine Bousquet. The quality of their wines is excellent, and the value is exceptional, noted our judges. At our recent wine judging in Argentina, Domaine Bousquet wines received a total of 11 medals, with 3 golds, 1 silver and 7 bronze awards, cementing Domaine’s status as Argentina’s leading producer.

Congratulations to Domaine Bousquet team.
