The IWSC is proud to unveil the 2025 wine results, following two weeks of dedicated judging by a panel of global experts. This year’s event took place at 22 Bishopsgate, the tallest building in the City of London, where wines from 34 countries across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and Oceania were assessed under rigorous conditions.

The IWSC is committed to impartial and thorough evaluation, a principle that has secured its reputation as a trusted source of quality assessment for wine brands, distributors and retailers. Each medal awarded reflects the high standards upheld throughout the competition.

Only around 2 percent of wines receive a coveted IWSC Gold medal, highlighting their exceptional quality. Silver medals account for 22 percent of entries, while Bronze is awarded to 59 percent. The IWSC does not offer commendations for non-medal entries, maintaining a clear and consistent benchmark for excellence.

Celebrating This Year’s Standouts

The highest scoring wines of 2025 are:

Judge Beatrice Bessi commended the fortified category, especially the Madeiras, noting that Madeira now stands as a high-quality competitor with the attributes needed to shine.

Commenting on the English sparkling wines, David Kermode remarked on their graceful ageing and structure, pointing out several vintage examples that earned strong gold medals for their clarity and balance.

Australian fortified entries also impressed. Judge Melania Battiston highlighted the flight as her standout, praising the consistent quality and excellent balance between sweetness and acidity.

This campaign will shine a light on the medal winners, and provide insights into consumer and industry trends observed during judging. Content will be shared via blogs, newsletters and social media, targeting both trade and consumer audiences.

Clarion Communications, the IWSC’s new consumer PR partner, is supporting efforts to extend the reach of the IWSC’s results, aiming to increase visibility for winning producers and raise awareness of the competition’s purpose and integrity.
