The Glenmorangie Company was the toast of the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) after scooping two top awards last night (Wednesday 17th November).

Dr Bill Lumsden, Head of Distilling and Whisky Creation for Glenmorangie, was honoured for his outstanding contribution to the industry. One of the world’s leading industry figures, Bill is a pioneer of wood management, who is producing Glenmorangie whiskies that have changed the single malt market.

Glenmorangie Sonnalta PX was further accoladed with a trophy after it was chosen from amongst the Gold ‘Best in Class’ medal winners to represent the finest whisky in its category. This whisky is part of the Glenmorangie Private Edition, a collection of whiskies which highlight our exceptional whisky making skills. Glenmorangie Sonnalta PX has been extra-matured in the finest Pedro Ximenez casks. The judges praised the whisky for its fine balance and finish.

Since its foundation in 1969 the IWSC and its panel of judges have rewarded excellence in the world of wines and spirits. London’s historic Guildhall played host to Wednesday evening’s banquet which drew 500 aficionados from all over the globe.

The ‘Pod Bar’ concept offers unrivalled scope for operators toacquire Bermar’s award-winning Le Verre de Vin – proven, industry standard technology that will underpin every ‘service’, from ’half a dozen by the glass’ to the most extensive (and expensive!) of wine by the glass offers. (Bermar’s flagship customers include operators who offer over 300 wines by the glass aswell as those selling Grand Cru wines at more than £100 a glass and luxury Champagnes, topping out at £700+ a flute!)

Dr Lumsden said: “This accolade makes me very proud to be recognised for my contribution to such a vibrant Scotch whisky industry. Since 1843 Glenmorangie has always gone the extra mile to maintain the quality of our whiskies and these awards are testament to that pioneering spirit.”
