Twenty-five ancient City of London livery companies came together for a tasting of medal winners from the UK’s premier awards competition.

Hosted by David Sills, Master of the Worshipful Company of Distillers, a sell-out audience of 180 guests included Masters and a Prime Warden from City of London livery companies representing needlemakers, solicitors, fanmakers, wheelwrights, tax advisers, engineers and many others. Some 60 drinks companies were also represented.

Held at Innkeepers Hall in the City of London, the event made available for tasting 200 products that had gained gold, and gold best in class awards at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2011.

David Sills said: “This was the fourth time Distillers had hosted the tasting and it is clear it is becoming a firm fixture in many diaries.

“One of the reasons for its popularity is that it brings together the world’s finest spirits products, many of which you would otherwise have to travel to the other side of the world to sample.

Also, guests love the chance to network with fellow guests in a friendly and fun atmosphere.”
