Last week we announced the talented communicators shortlisted for our 2024 Emerging Talent in Wine Communication award, sponsored by Consorzio di Tutela del Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Today, we are delighted to reveal that the winner of this prestigious award is Cassandra Charlick.

Cassandra is an exciting fresh voice in the industry, said our judges. Our panel was very impressed by how Cassandra bridges the gap between the traditional wine world and the emerging one with her brilliant articles and videos.

The judges were amazed by Cassandra’s boundless energy and passion. Australian-based freelance wine, travel & food writer, journalist and presenter, Cassandra skilfully uses a variety of communication channels to engage with different audiences. She works as a Western Australian correspondent for Decanter Magazine, as well as writing for many other publications and hosting wine education pieces on one of the Australian TV channels.

The panel appreciated Cassandra’s genuine interest in sustainability. In addition to publishing articles on sustainability, she is now working on a book proposal on “mindful wine – how to drink sustainably and creatively”. Cassandra is also exploring the possibility of instigating the first alternative wine packaging line in Western Australia.

“Cassandra is a very knowledgeable communicator, but what I like about her is that she’s got this rebellious spirit,” said one of the judges. “She is driven and determined to make a difference.”

Cassandra is planning to use her £2.5k travel bursary to travel to Europe and visit several wine regions, researching for her book proposal on “mindful wine”.

We are delighted to present Cassandra as our winner for our 2024 Emerging Talent in Wine Communication award.
